Sara Wells was born and raised in the Seattle area. She graduated from Brigham Young University in horticulture and became a landscape designer. She and her husband, Eric, live in Boise, Idaho, and are the parents of two young sons.

Kate Jones was raised in Logan, Utah, and majored in English at Brigham Young University. She and her husband, Sam, are recent transplants to Louisiana and are the parents of three children.
