Fablehaven debuts at #8 on the Children’s Chapter Book list
A fortune cookie once proclaimed Brandon Mull would become a New York Times bestselling author. After completing his debut novel Fablehaven, Mull posted the fortune on his refrigerator. Little did he know the fortune would come true so quickly as his second book (Fablehaven: Rise of the Evening Star, ISBN 978-1-59038-742-9, Released April 24, 2007) debuted on the New York Times Bestseller list at number 8 (to be published May 20, 2007).
Fablehaven also reached #36 on BookScan for all children’s fiction books beating out several Harry Potter books and the popular Dr. Seuss’ Green Eggs and Ham (#42).
Fablehaven has been touted as a grassroots hit flying off Barnes & Noble and Borders’ bookshelves whenever Mull comes to town. His signings have been anything but average as, city after city, he consistently sells 250-300 books each evening. There is something unique about this author that reviewers and readers, particularly kids, are grasping.
Praise for Book Two:
Kirkus Reviews, April 1, 2007: “Featuring plenty of heroism and hilarity, this follow-up to Fablehaven … is rich in creatures, magic-working, hard-fought battles, plots within plots and chemistry.”
Mike Gibb, Borders District Marketing Manager: “Fablehaven is an underground marvel that I expect to surface as a mainstream hit very soon. There is something unique about this author that readers, particularly kids, are grasping onto.”
Columbia Daily Tribune: “Every bit a ‘page turner’ as the Harry Potter books, Fablehaven has all of the elements to grab you at the start and keep you completely engrossed and engaged until the very end…full of tense, gripping action.”
Sharon Barfuss, parent: “Neither of my kids have ever read for pleasure, especially Tyler my 10 year old. Your book truly ignited in him what I have been trying to do for so long! We now have to tell him to turn his book light off and go to bed.”
The launch of Book Two put Mull on a 12-city author tour, including school assemblies, as part of his “Imagination Can Take You Places Tour.” Mull’s tour has reached more than 80,000 kids, as he encourages students to read and develop their imaginations.
